How to patch up a plaster wall?

Ok long story short I got angry today and smashed a weak spot in my plaster wall. I covered it up with a photo but sooner or later my parents are gonna find out.

The damage is basically a slightly depressed 3 quarter-circle crack with the remaing quarter still attached to the rest of the wall. How can I do a near seamless patch up of this? I’m quite good with my hands and have some DIY knowlege and planning to buy some ready-to-mix plaster, fill the depression in, sand it off and then coat it with a little paint. Would this be the best way? If you know a better way or have any tips it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Your fix is exactly what I would do. But, you might want to tell your parents anyway, and tell them you would be more than happy to fix it, it was your fault. Best line a parent loves (at least this parent) "Yes, I learned something from this"! As a mom, I would know that my kid was fixing something, I would smell the paint fumes, mom’s have a 6th sense. Good luck.

How do I prevent new plaster from soaking up all my paint?

I have recently had my walls skimmed by a plasterer. The plaster has dried but painting the walls seems to use up a lot of paint, is there anything I can put on the new plaster to stop it soaking so much up?

Yes you should use a sealer first any DIY store will have it

What is plaster modelling and plaster casting?

I have an art assignment about Claes Oldenburg and we need to find out what plaster modelling is and how pop artists used plaster casting to enlarge objects. Any help?

Plaster modeling is normally taking a chunk of plaster and carving it (like one does marble or wood) to make an art object. Since plaster can be added to, it is possible to make a model, make a copy (see below) then add some plaster back in and carve that.
Because of what Claes makes, it is likely that this is what he makes – a maquette http://www.modernsculpture.com/glossary.htm that allows himself, his clients, and his construction people to see what is to be built much larger. It is not used to enlarge objects directly, other processes do that.
Plaster casting normally involves making a mold, which may be plaster, latex, rubber, etc., from a model, which may be wood, plaster, clay, or other artists materials as well as human flesh and other natural objects. The mold is used to make exact sized copies. In addition, plaster molds are used to make bronze castings where the outer surface of a clay is molded then a wax copy is made which will be melted away to make the hole into which the bronze is poured.
