Can you help me to choose a trade for additional income (part time work)?
I have a 9-5 weekdays office job but I want to train in a trade so that I can do odd jobs in my free time for extra cash. Maybe plumbing, electrics, plastering….
In which trade(s) is the demand and the money made? I imagine that some will be far more sought after and profitable than others.
I would guess that electricians or mechanics would be the most sought after. A lot of people aren’t afraid to take on a plumbing job these days with the DIY craze. Electricity and engines on the other hand are still pretty intimidating for most.

Hi, another way to look at your request would be, if you are looking to learn a trade you will also most likely pay for the privilege of learning your new found skills and depending on which trade you choose you could send around four years doing this before you are qualified so it could cost you a small fortune from your full time salary in order to make back extra cash.
Think of it from another angle, if your main objective is to make extra money around your full time job then you want to be in profit as soon as possible, while spending as little as possible for the privilege of doing so.
Have a look at our website below and it may help you look at things from another point of view (and possibly help you achieve your goal).

Good luck and feel free to get in touch.

Train as a LGV (HGV) driver and work weekends. Drivers are in high demand and are well paid. There are additional qualifications like ADR which allows you to transport dangerous goods and will command higher wages from your employer. You need to obtain the correct provisional licenses from DVLA and pass a theory test. Then there are two main practical tests to sit if you want to drive the larger artic type lorries. You can do this in two weeks.

sparks out of all the site trades make the better time rate money 13-15 quid an hour. they rarely do price work unless its a homer (from my experience) car mechanics brilliant job, dirty greasy but worth it. i done 2 years apprenticeship in car mechanics but pissed it away for quick money labouring. bricklayers brilliant money for price work 30-50 pence per block, time rate excellent money as well. joiners shite money for price most are paid by the metre and a half for door frames and skirting average 1:50 per metre and half. they dont get paid for loading up time either. plasterers good money but hard work i do scratch coats from time to time on time rate as a labourer my shoulders ache like hell. plumbers and painters treated like shi’t by foremen usually. most site formen are joiners so there is a sort of pecking order. joiners being looked after first then the brickies sparks ending up with the labour at the bottom treated like absolute dirt. most sought after trade? sparks and plumbers and skilled labour (myself). but i fix computers in my time off 20 quid for a reformat 50-70 quid for an overhaul. or i’ll do house clearance demolition and gardening. knocking a garden wall down to make a driveway 150-200 quid.
