Buy a small container of light weight spackling. You can apply this with your fingers. It dries pretty fast, and you may have to go over the place a few times before you paint, but it is a lot cleaner than plaster for small spots like this.
References :
You've got it. It must be a smooth wall - otherwise it's alittle more difficult to match texture.
References :
Take a piece of newspaper, a little bit bigger than the hole, wad it up, and shove it in the hole. Next get some plaster and put it over the hole, and smooth it even with the wall, let it dry for 2 days, then paint it the same color as the wall. Or, tell your parents, darn! Look what I did, I can't believe I lost my balance like that!
Hey Dad? Do you have any plaster, newspaper & paint I can fix it with? I mean, after all, "I" am the one who did that.....Good luck.
References :
opinion

Your fix is exactly what I would do. But, you might want to tell your parents anyway, and tell them you would be more than happy to fix it, it was your fault. Best line a parent loves (at least this parent) "Yes, I learned something from this"! As a mom, I would know that my kid was fixing something, I would smell the paint fumes, mom's have a 6th sense. Good luck.
References :
Depending on the size, you may want to use sheetrock tape to prevent future cracks. But other than that, you seem to have an understanding of the job.
