I need some advice on plastering a long wall?

I’ve recently done a plastering course, and now feel reasonably confidentt to tackle some jobs in my home. I have fairly long walll to plaster, and am a little worried that I might not work fast enough to get the second coat on before the first coat goes off. Does anyone have any tips? I thought about using plaster flatness guides to section off the walls, but will I be able to "key" in a new section into a dried section?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

how long is a long wall ?..if more than 20 feet and you are new to the game .then by all means do it in two halves ..but modern plaster is very stable and will hold on a wall (trowable) for the best part of an hour if you keep the windows and doors shut ..if you do cut it in half then wet the edge of the new bit and start at that edge and the two edges will blend in easily don’t take any notice of what Micheil says ..he is not a plasterer ..don’t need pva ..use board finish ..and to get a good finish you do need two coats ..as your coursework will have shown ..if you do it as he says then the wall will bubble badly ..just be confident in yourself and it will be easy .stay calm .you don’t get good luck you make it ps ..i am assuming it is a plasterboard wall ..if its a wall with a browning coat ..then apply the top coat the same day if possible

Small plastering job?

I need to repair the plaster work around a door frame. The door and frame is a normal internal type, so as you look at it there is an approx space of 6 inches either side going up and about 14 inches over the top of the door. The present plastering is solid but really rough so i need to skim over it, what is the best way of doing this.

W ell you could ask a friend but not a plaster thats going to charge you that much.. A small bag of finish plaster from B.Q if you cannot use a plaster trowel try a paint scrap you can use this to to take away some of the rough .. Take your time and fill it don,t over fill try to keep it level with the old ……..

Plastering jobs in Dubai?

Construction work in the Arab Emirates
if you’re British then u will find it quite difficult to get plastering type jobs in dubai, well for a reasonable salary as most of those jobs are done by asians brought in who do it for a few pounds a day in terrible conditions. however there are more senior positions available to expat british workers and u could try searching to british companies working there. i lived there a few years ago i remembe wimpey being there but cant remember any of the others, there are british companies in joint ventures with local companies . good luck.

What do I do about a poor job of plastering….?

The guy who lived in my condo before me gutted and remodeled the entire kitchen and did a beautiful job, EXCEPT for the soffets (correct spelling?) above the cabinets. The plastering job is pretty uneven where the soffets meet the ceiling. I was thinking that instead of going through the expense and the hassle of sanding and/or replastering, I could put a narrow strip of corner molding where the soffet meets the ceiling. My cabinets are light natural wood so it wouldn’t be hard to match up. Could this work?

that should do it … be careful how u attach it and dont bust everything up … if it doesnt look right and theres gaps u could always caulk it in and paint it ..
